Complex Trauma

Anxiety presents differently for many different people. Some of the most common symptoms include increased heart rate and heart palpitations, shortness of breath, perspiration, dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, fear and uneasiness, difficulty being still or concentrating, muscle tension, and headaches. If you suffer from excessive worrying, racing thoughts, we can work to overcome these symptoms through the process of healing.

Complex Trauma

We cannot determine what is traumatic to someone because everyone experiences things differently. Trauma results from exposure to an incident or a series of events that are emotionally disturbing or life-threatening with lasting adverse effects on one's functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, and/or spiritual well-being.

CERTIFICATION IN PROGRESS

EMDR is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. Combined with eye movements and guided instructions, accessing those memories helps you reprocess what you remember from the event.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works operates on the belief that situations prompt automatic thoughts which in turn trigger emotions, physiological responses, and behaviors. The CBT model calls for us to look closely at our thoughts and challenge them, working to reframe and reshape them. This is a relationship between what we think and feel.

Somatic Experiencing, Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Somatic Experiencing, Therapy

Somatic therapy looks specifically at what is occurring in the body and encourages somatic self awareness. Memories and traumatic events can store in the body. By processing emotions and taking note of our self-protective physical responses, we can increase our own tolerance and ability to deal with unpleasant body sensations.

The Mind-Body Approach

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Somatic Experiencing, Therapy

The mind-body approach embraces mindfulness, the mastery of being fully present. Practicing mindfulness allows us to be more cognizant of our environments and attentive of our interactions and relationships. Moreover, mindfulness promotes relaxation by encouraging the engagement of the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for our stress responses, in its practices.
